Read moreAdrian Hilton is a conservative academic, religious and political commentator, journalist and author. He is a former adviser to the Secretary of State for Education, and teaches politics, theology and philosophy. He was a parliamentary candidate for the Referendum Party in 1997 (Stratford-upon-Avon) and was selected again by the Conservative Party in 2005 (Slough). He was given the choice to resign or be sacked over articles he had written for The Spectator magazine two years earlier, which were a defence of the Anglican settlement of the British Constitution.
He is the author of the best-selling book The Principality and Power of Europe, which deals with the constitutional issues raised by the UK’s continuing membership of the EU. The book carries a foreword by former Speaker of the House of Commons Lord Tonypandy. An alumnus of the RSC, he entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2005 for a non-stop recital of the Complete Works of Shakespeare, inaugurated on the site of the Globe Theatre by the Duke of Edinburgh. He is a council member of The Freedom Association and also writes for The Spectator on Arts & Culture.
