About Carl McQueen
By day Carl is a mild-mannered producer for LBC 97.3, which in Layman’s terms involves doing all the hard work for presenters and then taking the flak when they get it wrong!
When he’s not pestering political editors, MPs, or experts on anything from the Middle East to speed cameras for interviews, he’ll often be found watching some kind of sport, be it football, cricket, rugby union…basically anything but badminton.
Having grown up in the depths of the Cotswolds (hardly a hotbed of sporting excellence), he’s had to suffer supporting Swindon Town, Gloucestershire CCC and Gloucester RFC for more years than necessary. Everyone else was sensible and just supported Manchester United!
His first job in the media was as a runner for an independent TV production company - also known as a general dogsbody - the sort of job you wouldn’t wish upon your mortal enemy. Although he did once shake hands with Jennifer Aniston…and Christopher Biggins. Unfortunately they weren’t in the same room together!
