About Chay Allen

Chay Allen is an arts writer and doctoral researcher at Oxford University. Polemic and often running against the grain of established opinion, his writing offers a refreshing take on issues concerning contemporary art and culture. Having been a regular critic for The Art Book, he now contributes to Cassone under the same editorial team, and has been interviewed for his expertise on chance in art for BBC Radio 4.

In his academic research, Chay focuses on twentieth-century avant-gardes in both Europe and America, and has taught two courses, "Aesthetics" and "The History of Modern Art", at Wadham and Mansfield Colleges.
