About Denis MacShane

Denis MacShane MP is one of Britain’s best known politicians on European and global affairs. He started his career as a BBC reporter and subsequently worked in Geneva for the international trade union movement.

Denis became a Member of the UK Parliament for Rotherham in 1994. He was Minister for Europe under Tony Blair and worked on European affairs as a parliamentary private secretary and Minister at the Foreign Office 1997-2005. He has served as a UK delegate on the Council of Europe and NATO Parliamentary Assemblies for five years.

Denis MacShane has published several books, pamphlets and articles on a variety of European and international topics. His latest book “Globalising Hatred: the New Antisemitism” was published in October 2008 and was widely praised in press reviews.

He writes regularly for UK and American papers and journal and other European newspapers.
