About Tony Horne

Tony Horne has just quit what is believed to be the longest-running continuous breakfast show on UK commercial radio. And still nobody has heard of him!

Almost unique on music radio, he ran a no-nonsense speech-based format on Metro Radio across the North East of England, weekdays from 6am and Saturdays from Noon. In his own words “It was a deadly serious piss-take”.

And the boy can write too.

Tony is the ghostwriter of Tango 190 by PC David Rathband, the policeman shot and blinded by Raoul Moat in July 2010. He has also written double-headed travel books where he and his current wife recount their disastrous holidays, both publishing the same story from their own point of view!

Tony couldn’t wait to join Dale and Co: ‘For seven years I wrote a weekly column for Newcastle’s Evening Chronicle for free and then they sacked me after I questioned why the regional development agency One North East had an office in Orange County! Thank God, I’m joining the big boys.’

He splits his time between Newcastle and Manchester, though his main residence is on Twitter (@horneymedia)
