Poll: In/Out European Referendum - How Would You Vote?

Definitely out....you must have some Cameronites/Millibandites in that strange office of yours to vote 6/5 to stay in.

In, no man is an island, has Joe Public that goes to the costas on hols been told of implications. These things matter to the majority working class. See how happy they will be if told in future they need to apply for visa and low cost flights are no longer feasible. These simple implications need to be spelt out.

I am a German living in the UK, my brother-in-law's husband is a Belgian, my sister is married to a Brit. Our family is a European Union in itself. It would break my heart if Great Britain left the EU. Alas I won't be allowed to have a vote...

Many voters have treated Euro elections as some sort of in/out referendum anyway with the result that nearly a quarter of our representatives in the EU parliament don't believe they should be there anyway.
If you start from that position, it's hard to believe that they've been working wholeheartedly to improve the EU and give it the political impetus to reform.
Determined, consistent pressure on the 'faceless bureaucrats' might have resulted in a very different EU.
I spent much of last year travelling around Europe and I happened to find myself in Vilneus on a weekend when they were celebrating the anniversary of their joining the EU and I was impressed, envious and more than a little touched by how much it meant to them simply to belong, and importantly, to be experiencing a prolonged period without war or major political upheaval.
I was equally astonished at the number of UK traders, performers and participants.
I share their belief that it's better to belong than to be isolated, but I want my MEPs to want to make the EU an organisation worth belonging to and which we can be proud of.
I'm heartened by the You/Gov poll showing that two thirds of 18 - 24 year olds would vote to stay in and hope the older generation (of which I'm one) will be cogniscent of the wishes of the next generation if the referendum ever actually happens.
